When Carpets Go Moldy

Back to green products.  I thought I would give my eyes and elbow a rest from the Olympics ... Michael Phelps has tired me out.  I can't keep up with his gold medals and world records so I thought I would do some green product posts for the next few days until I regain my TV-watching strength.  Today's topic is carpet mold.

 In short, carpets are vulnerable to mold and mildew. Your house may have some floor coverings, either rugs or carpets.  Every once in a while you may accidentally drop or spill liquids on them.   Later if you have managed to clean or wipe up the visible spill, you will have forgotten about it, thinking that the problem is gone. What you may not know is that mold and mildew thrive on damp surroundings and if you are not careful with the drying up after cleaning then your house may eventually get carpet mold and mildew.

Once you have discovered the presence of mold and mildew in your carpets, it is essential that you immediately remove these disease-causing organisms.  Mold and mildew have been known to cause allergic attacks and may even damage your lungs and other internal organs. Thanks, Steve. A friend just bought a new house and was dismayed to see a small patch of white mold on some of the carpeting. I'm passing this on to him.
