Green shoots taking root

The announcement of a new plant employing just 100 workers might seem like a long shot to attract the chief executive of General Motors, two senators and a raft of state and local officeholders from across Michigan. But, as this article from the NYT pointed out, those 100 jobs represent a new GM factory opening in Michigan - something the state has not seen in a long time. In fact, the project is expected to employ about 4,000 Michigan workers eventually, and supply the electric batteries for GM hybrids - batteries that are currently manufactured in China. T
