Convert plastic to oil?

Envion has announced what they call a "revolutionary new technology" that converts waste plastic back into synthetic oil. They can get about 172 gallons of oil from a ton of plastic waste, according to the press release, and that oil can be used to make gasoline and other oil based products. Could this be a way for cities to deal with recyclable plastics in their waste stream?
