President Bush or Puppet Bush?

President Bush or puppet Bush image

I recently decided to do a post on President Bush's environmental record.  After 10 minutes of research I determined that it would take me hundreds of hours to do this topic justice.  I now realize just how destructive the man is towards our environment.

President Bush or Puppet Bush?

When looking back at George Bush's record in office, one can only conclude that he was the worst president in history with regards to protecting our cherished environment.   He single-handedly set the United States back a hundred years with his political agendas.  Well I suppose it wasn't single-handed.  He had lots of help from vice president Dick Cheney.  But then what do you expect when two oil-men are voted into the White House?

It is becoming more and more clear what Bush is really about as the Bush administration winds down.  Here is one example that really irks me - the Iraq war.  From the beginning, many people (myself included) suspected that the Iraq war was about securing Iraqi oil, not about removing Saddam Hussein from power.  With recent activities this motive is now crystal clear.

First, a proposed accord, entitled US-Iraq status-of-forces agreement (SOFA), is being pushed onto the Iraqi people.  The deadline for approving the agreement is December 31st.  I'm sure I don't have to point out that Bush's last day in office is January 20, 2009. The U.S. military has warned Iraq that it risks security "losses of significant consequence" if the agreement is not approved.  Although the U.S. claims that the agreement "fully restores Iraq sovereignty", it will in actuality give U.S. and British oil companies control Iraqi oil resources for decades to come.

The second act of concern is a statement in the 2009 Defense Authorization Bill, which allows Bush to use defense funds control over Iraqi oil resources.  To justify the statement Bush wrote that prohibiting such a use of funds "purport(s) to impose requirements that could inhibit the president's ability to carry out his constitutional obligations."

With these latest actions it has become clear that Bush is simply a puppet for the big oil companies.  Surprise, Surprise...
