Simply Green - Small Business Choices

The Bottom Line is Green!

by Terese Hartjoy @ Thorne's World

green business charity recycling

When Australian small business owner Geordie Gill's garbage removal business, 1300 Rubbish, was in the black, he decided it was time to turn it green! Geordie not only works with a number of recycling facilities to limit the waste that he carries to the land fills, but in 2005 did a little searching and found a charity to call his own. The business now donates $1 from each job to Mission Australia to help with the needs of Australia's homeless population.

Geordie told The Age, "I don't want to change the world, but I think everyone deserves a blanket, and I wanted to be able to get to the guys who need the help, not to pay the wages of the people in the charity."

1300 Rubbish also donates furniture and household items as well as the occasional foodstuff surplus haul away job to Mission Australia. What can you do to turn you small business' bottom line green?

Remember folks, keep it green with Simply Green!
