   Did you know that common table salt should be part of your green clean arsenal? Salt is a mild, non-scratching abrasive that also absorbs grease and oil. Here are some suggestions for salt use in cleaning activities:
- Clean cast iron pans by using salt. Generously sprinkle the salt around then wipe clean. You can also use it with hot water but don't forget to wipe the pan clean and then put oil on the pan;
- Soak your toothbrush in hot salt water once every week. This will keep your toothbrush bacteria free;
- Apply salt to ink stains then wipe with a damp cloth;
- Clean grease off pots and pans by sprinkling with generous amount of salt. Allow the salt to absorb the grease then wipe clean with a paper towel;
- Clean casserole dishes using salt with boiling water. Pour the water into the casserole dish and let stand until the water has cooled. Then wash;
- Eliminate odors in thermoses / plastic containers by sprinkling salt into the container. Cover with a lid and let sit for at least 4 hours;
- Use salt with ice cubes to remove stains glass from tea pots;
- Use salt to clean the dishes (by hand). Sprinkle a tablespoon of salt into the water. Rinse/dry the dishes well afterwards. Wear gloves.
