Uses For Baking Soda

I'm sure most people are aware of baking soda's ability to absorb odor.  Placing a box of baking soda in the refrigerator (or freezer) eliminates most odors.  It can also be used as a deodorizer on carpets, upholstery, vinyl and drains.  Here are some other uses for baking soda:

  • use to extinguish grease fires;
  • natural teeth cleaner and whitener;
  • add to wash to soften fabrics and remove some stains;
  • scrubbing and scouring bird cages, ovens, toilet bowls, tub and tiles.
Baking soda is often used in combination with water, vinegar and/or lemon juice for general purpose cleaning.  The baking soda reacts with the other ingredients by fizzing, which speeds up cleaning times.
