Eco-Friendly Picnics

Useful Tips for a Green and Eco-friendly Picnic this Summer

With its warm weather and gentle breezes, August is the perfect summer month for a picnic. Use these Eco-friendly tips during your next picnic, and you can have fun while saving the environment!

  • For the perfect green picnic, combine healthy organic foods, such as fruits and veggies with Eco-friendly, biodegradable plates, silverware and paper products. Shop at your local farmers market, for great organic fruits and vegetables. Not only is buying from local farmers good for the environment and the Earth, but you’re also helping to support and keep those farmers in business.
  • Don’t carry picnic food and supplies in plastic bags! Go green and use an old fashioned straw picnic basket.
  • Instead of packing the picnic basket with Styrofoam plates and cups, and plastic silverware, use biodegradable products! Made of a durable material, Chinet plates are Eco-friendly, and guaranteed to hold platefuls of food. You should also use biodegradable corn silverware and cutlery.
  • Instead of using paper napkins, use cloth napkins which are washable and reusable. Using these napkins can save the Earth and the money in your wallet!
  • Always leave a picnic area cleaner than you found it! No matter how Earth friendly a product is it’s still not a natural part of the picnic area.

At Whole Earth Packaging, we’re always looking for ways to be more conscious of the environment. Using biodegradable products during a picnic will help to make the experience memorable and fun… all while saving the Earth. Please be sure to visit Whole Earth Packaging blog and twitter!
