Your Website's Carbon Footprint

Many people are now conscious of their own contribution to climate change.  Carbon footprint is a keyword many websites are capitalizing on.  But are you aware of the CO2 output of the website you own and maintain?

I recently discovered a site that not only calculates your website's carbon footprint, but will even automatically buy EPA-endorsed renewable energy credits to "carbon offset" your site.  CO2Stats not only calculates the CO2 contribution of the server where your website is hosted, but neglect the emissions due to the network emissions and your visitors, which typically constitute the bulk of the carbon emissions.

So Blog On Smog has now signed up with CO2Stats and proudly displays the green trustmark "Green Certified Site" located at the top of the sidebar.  When you click on this trustmark a window will open showing the following info:

Carbon footprint website stats, green certification

CO2Stats has a number of very credible clients including Segway and Harvard University websites.  So consider stamping out your website's carbon footprint now.  It's easy to do.
