The World is Warming Up to Solar Power
Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 12:01AM | All around the world, efforts are accelerating in the race to stop global warming. Here are some recently announced plans.
India has aggressive plans for solar energy, aiming to increase use by 1000 times over 12 years. With a target of producing 20 gigawatts and powering several large cities, India government recently approved the $12B three-phased effort to be completed by 2022. It is unclear where the money will come from and also where the land. Some fear that in order to build the solar facilities many people will be displaced from their land.
Meanwhile, China has announced that it will subsidize 294 solar plant projects totalling 642 megawatts. This is 30 percent more than the target Beijing set when it launched the "golden sun" plan in July. The projects are expected to cost approximately $2.93B with completion within three years.
Southern Italy will soon have four 1 Megawatt solar power plants in the region of Puglia. SunPower Corp. and Etrion Corporation will be teaming up to build the plants. The solar panels will track the sun, providing up o 25% more energy than fixed panels.
Next year in Spain, car maker SEAT will begin generating renewable energy using 10 Megawatts of photovoltaic panels. The system will generate more than 13 million kwh of electricity annually.

That's an amazing feat that India is shooting for. 20 gigawatts, incredible. I just watched an alternate energies technology show on Discover where they are building an infrared solar heat gatherer in the Outback of Australia with plans to power most major cities down under.
Wow, every time i read those solar related news,i am getting excited. I am the export for Solar module , my main market is in EU. Out of Biz, saving our planet is the biggest issue, for sure, solar energy is one of options to help in its way reduce CO2, carbon emission...
I am offering solar energy solutions to the people or companies. Hope we do our best to save our land.
I'm personally looking into some DIY Solar Kits. The Earth is heating up and I guess we must all do our part even if it's small.
I'm very pleased to know that the all around the world, efforts are being made to stop global warming. Even every individual should contribute in their daily life so that in future this world becomes a better place to live.
