Climate Change Contest

Filling the position for a Wet Wednesday blogger has turned out to be much more difficult than I had originally thought. So while I wait for the perfect blogging candidate I decided it would be nice to have some fun.  What am I up to you ask?   Well, my wife, says that my website header is too scary.  I learned some time ago never to disagree with my wife.

So here is the deal. I want a new header for Blog On Smog. Not just any header but a really great header. I am offering $100 for a really, really great header.  I am expecting lots of artists and wannabe artists are going to jump at this opportunity and send in some really, really, really great headers for consideration.  Now my judgement has been a little off lately so I figure the best way to decide the best header for my site is to ask the WWW to vote on all of the (pre-screened) submissions.  Yes, this is a contest and here are the rules:

1. Header must be approximately 950-1000 pixels wide.
2. Header height must be 200 pixels or less.
3. Must be a JPG file with no moving components (JAVA, FLASH, ...)
4. Theme must be climate change or effects of climate change.
5. There must no copyright or usage issues.  (I must be able to freely use the header without restriction).
6. Must be original.  I don't want to discover this header on any other website.
7. There IS an age restriction.  Contestants must be at least 3 years of age.

I am not setting a deadline for entries since I don't know how long it will take for them to trickle in.  Instead, I will cut off the submissions once I get a certain number of entries that I consider suitable for my website.  Possibly 5 or 10 entries.  Then I will let the internet vote on which header is the best for Blog On Smog.  The internet voters will be asked to grade on the following components in order of importance:

• Theme compliance
• Emotional response
• Inviting / warm ambiance
• Artistic value
• Simplicity

The winner will receive $100 complements of Blog On Smog.

Perform the following steps to submit an entry:

1. Upload your header file here.
2. Use the contact form to send Blog On Smog an EMAIL with your (a) Name; (b) EMAIL address; (c) Name of JPG header file;  and (d) any other details you would like the world to know about.
